After the events of The Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, a.k.a. The Penguin, makes a move to take over the criminal underworld in Gotham.. Except for the Bat-signal in the final shot of the season finale, we never got our Robert Pattinson cameo in “The Penguin.” In this short video, IMDb attempts to answer: where the hell was Batman?. Colin Farrell fought hard to get his version of The Penguin Smoke Tobacco in The Batman (2022), but was unsuccessful. In his own series, however, the character is depicted as an occasional tobacco user, with a preference for cigars. The DC Studios logo is set in a rainy Gotham alley. The first episode is a direct continuation of Matt Reeves’ The Batman , and I imagine those who haven’t seen that will be a little lost. But I watched The Batman a while back, and this show did an admirable job of quickly reacquainting me with where the movie left off, and without bogging me down in a didactic recap. It also picks up on the film’s aesthetic and dark tone well, though the show has far more moments of sly levity than the movie did. Street Guy:" crude, profane, volatile, and quick to engage in violence; but also savvy, cunning, and a good reader. The character may have absolutely nothing to do with the comic book version, but he’s interesting in his own right. And I don’t know if the Penguin’s machinations will be enough to sustain a full season. But so far, it’s off to a great start.
